GENE RODDENBERRY

Gene Roddenberry was a writer and producer from the 1950s to the 1990s. He is best-known for his creation of the "Star Trek" franchise, starting with the classic TV series in 1966. In 1985, he became the first TV writer with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and he was later inducted by both the Science Fiction Hall of Fame and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Hall of Fame. He passed away in 1991 at the age of 70. Years after he died, Roddenberry was one of the first humans to have his ashes carried into Earth's orbit.
