Angelyne is an American singer, actress, model (and even a gubernatorial candidate) from the 1970s to the present. She came to prominence around 1984 when she bought a large number of billboards promoting herself in Los Angeles. She immediately caught the attention of the local media and through her flamboyant and feather-brained persona, became known worldwide. The success resulted in her receiving a number of offers for film roles, interviews and television show appearances. She is often considered the first celebrity who became "famous for being famous", since her billboards have gotten more fame than her music career.
