Ken Berry was an actor from the 1960s to the 1990s. He was in the military, but performed in theater while there, and when he was discharged, his sergeant, who, oddly enough, was Leonard Nimoy, encouraged him to go to Hollywood, and he did. He was over 30, and it took a while, but in 1965, he got his big break in TV's "F Troop", playing the lead. He took over for Andy Griffith in the spin-off show, "Mayberry R.F.D.". He also had success in the Carol Burnett spin-off, "Mama's Family", and he appeared in some Disney movies, including Herbie Rides Again and The Cat from Outer Space. For many years, he was married to Jackie Joseph, the star of the original Little Shop of Horrors. He passed away in 2018 at the age of 85.
