JOHN CAMERON SWAYZE

John Cameron Swayze was a news commentator from the 1940s to the 1980s. He appeared in a few movies and hosted various TV shows including: Inside Detroit, The Boston Strangler, and Armstrong Circle Theatre, but he is certainly best remembered for his longtime association as spokesman for Timex watches (in each commercial, they would subject a Timex watch to all sorts of abuse, and they had the tagline "It takes a licking and keeps on ticking!"). He passed away in 1995 at the age of 89.
