BENJI (personality)

The original Benji was an adorable mixed breed dog played by "Higgins", who was rescued from an animal shelter, and may have been a mixture between a miniature poodle, a miniature schnauzer, and a cocker spaniel. Prior to his breakout role in the Benji movies, he appeared on the "Green Acres" TV show. He came out of retirement to appear in "Benji", at 15, and retired afterwards, and his daughter played him in the sequels! Higgins passed away in 1975 at the age of 17.
