ROBERT MERRILL

Robert Merrill (born Moishe Miller) was an opera singer who frequently appeared on TV and had some roles in films (usually playing himself or an opera singer). He sang the Star Spangled Banner at Yankee Stadium on opening day starting in 1969, wearing his own Yankees uniform (with the number 1 1/2 on it!). Merrill passed away in 2004 at the age of 87.
