Douglas Corrigan was a pilot from the 1920s to the 1990s. He is best remembered for his 1938 unauthorized trans-Atlantic flight from New York to Ireland (since he did not have permission for the flight he later claimed to aviation officials he was not aware of which direction he was flying due to a navigational error - promptly earning him the nickname "Wrong Way"!) His sole movie appearance was in the 1939 movie The Flying Irishman, the true story of his historic flight in which he played himself! Corrigan passed away in 1995 at the age of 88.
