Bernard Gorcey was a Russian actor from the 1920s to the 1950s. Some of his movies include: No Holds Barred, Abie's Irish Rose, and The Great Dictator. He had lead roles in the 1920s and 1930s, but by the late 1930s, his career had greatly diminished. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it!), he was Leo Gorcey's father, and starting in 1946, he played Louie, the owner of the Sweet Shop in the Bowery Boys comedy series, where the boys frequently hung out, and Louie was often involved in slapstick gags, and many times Leo Gorcey would be tormenting or slapping his own father! Gorcey passed away in 1955 at the age of 69, after his car collided with a bus.
