S.Z. SAKALL

S.Z. Sakall (born Szoke Szakall) was a Hungarian actor in European movies of the 1920s and 1930s. He moved to the U.S. after the start of World War II and appeared in many comedies and musicals, playing an older befuddled or highly excitable fellow, and he was given the nickname of "Cuddles" and was often billed as "S.Z. 'Cuddles' Sakall". He is best remembered for his role as Carl the waiter in "Casablanca". He passed away in 1955 at the age of 72.
