WALTER CRONKITE

Walter Cronkite was a legendary broadcast journalist and television (TV) news anchorman from the 1950s to the 1980s. He is best remembered at the anchorman for the CBS Evening News, which he anchored for 19 years! He retired in 1980, when he was about to turn 65, because at that time, CBS had a mandatory retirement age. He ended up living 29 more years, and he later said that if he had any idea that he would live so long, he would have kept working much longer, and everyone who watched him at his job wishes he had done so. Cronkite passed away in 2009 at the age of 92.
