TOM TRYON

Tom Tryon was an actor from the 1950s to the 1970s. Some of his roles were in Texas John Slaughter, I Married a Monster from Outer Space, and Moon Pilot. In 1971, he wrote "The Other", which was a major best-seller (and was turned into a movie the following year), and he quit acting to become a novelist full time! Tryon passed away in 1991 at the age of 65.
