Film Description

Paris brule-t-il? (released in the U.S. as "Is Paris Burning?"), the 1966 Rene Clement French/U.S. France World War II (WWII) military thriller ( "From the first minute 'Is Paris Burning?' begins, it grabs you. It holds you. It gets inside you. It inflames you."; "By the 3rd Hitler is shrieking 'Burn Paris! Burn it to the Ground!'"; "By the 16th minute Terroe rips at you while a young wife faces the unbearable."; "By the 27th minute The doom of the city is impending."; "By the 34th minute All the smoldering revenge of the Resistance burts into flames."; "By the 42nd minute Generals Bradley, Patton and Silbert have already discussed blasting through Paris."; "By the 51st minute The boulevards of the city of love rumble with the roar of battle"; "By the 55th minute Every man and woman is caught up by the passions raging through Paris."; "By the 61st minute You are living the agony of the house to house, street to street fighting."; "By the 63rd minute you are no longer aware of time. The suspense is total."; "'Burn Paris!' was the order that had come shrieking over the phone. All the private passions, all the rising up of the people, the Undergroundswell of heroism, the housewives who faced death and worse, the Liberation... All these come blazingly alive with an all-star cast from the film capitals of the world."; "A motion picture to command the attention of the world!"; "Screenplay by Gore Vidal and Francis Coppola"; "Based on the Best-Selling book by Larry Collins and Dominique LaPierre") starring "a stunning international cast, in alphabetical order" Jean-Paul Belmondo, Charles Boyer, Leslie Caron, Jean-Pierre Cassel, George Chakiris (best remembered from his Academy Award winning role as Bernardo in "West Side Story"), Alain Delon, Kirk Douglas ("as General Patton"), Glenn Ford, Gert Froebe (best remembered as Auric Goldfinger in the James Bond movie "Goldfinger"), Yves Montand, Anthony Perkins, Simone Signoret, Robert Stack (eternally youthful star of numerous 1940s movies, later the star of TV's "The Untouchables" and "Unsolved Mysteries"), Marie Versini, Skip Ward, and Orson Welles

More About This Item

Note that this poster is stamped "EUROPEAN VERSION" on the back. We do not know why this is! Normally, U.S. posters are stamped "FOREIGN" or "DOMESTIC" indicating whether they are printed for theaters within the U.S. or outside the U.S. We don't know why it is stamped "EUROPEAN VERSION", when this terminology was not used on any other poster, and if anyone can explain that to us, we will appreciate it!

Note that next to the lot number in the title of this auction we put "FF". The "FF" is a note for our shipping department to let them know the poster is stored "Fully Folded". This allows us to more quickly find the item in our warehouse, therefore helping us to ship all orders as quickly as possible. Other items will have either a "UF" (UnFolded), "TF" (Tri-Folded), or "FF" (Fully Folded) next to the lot number, but please know that no matter which you buy (or if you buy any combination thereof), you only pay a single U.S. shipping charge (non-U.S. orders are charged the actual cost of shipping), as we can unfold tri-folded or fully folded posters and roll them in with unfolded posters, thus sending a single package.

Note: "emovieposter" is only on our digital image, NOT on the actual item. Also, we are changing our photography setup! Images with a solid black background are ones that were photographed on our new black metal background. We now hold the posters in place with magnets (so we do not attach the poster to the wall in any way), which are small and round and resemble "push pins", but we assure you they are NOT! If an image has a black background, know that the odd circles in the edges of the item are magnets that hold it in place, and are NOT a defect!
Overall Condition:
good to very good
Notable Defects: There is a foreign distributor stamp in the top right. There is an extra vertical foldline 1" to the right of the regular foldline, with many creases and scuffs in that area. Otherwise, the poster is in pretty good condition!

Explanation Of What This Condition Grade Means:
This item has some clear imperfections. If they are within the image, they are likely noticeable, but not very distracting, or they may be in the blank borders, where they will not show when the item is displayed. We may have written a few words about those imperfections, but we may not have, as you can likely see them by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual item (if they are the type that CAN'T be seen in our super-sized image, like faint water staining or tape on the back, we ALWAYS describe that in words). Note that we grade FAR more harshly than any other movie paper seller we know of, and many sellers would grade many of our "good to very good" items as "very good"!

More About This Poster Type: One-Sheets are the standard movie poster size, what you see outside of any movie theater. From 1896 until roughly 1990, almost all actual theater-used one-sheets measured 27" x 41" (since then, most one-sheets measure 27" x 40"). Up until 1980 (or thereabouts) the vast majority of one-sheets were folded twice horizontally and once vertically (this is in no way considered a defect). Sometime during the late '70s, studios began printing one-sheets rolled. Most one-sheets after the mid-1980s are printed unfolded, though it is still possible to find some newer posters folded. Most newer one-sheets are printed double-sided (with a mirror image on the back) for use in a light box in front of the theaters. However, sometimes the studios print some posters single-sided. All of the one-sheets (unless otherwise noted) being sold by eMoviePoster are original vintage theater-used one-sheets!
