More About This Item Note that this is an "international" one-sheet (meaning it was printed in the U.S. for use in non-U.S. countries). Somewhere in the early 1960s, MGM apparently made a huge "trade" deal with European movie distributors. From the early 1960s to the late 1960s, MGM released 100 or more non-U.S. movies in the U.S. under the MGM logo (some dating back to the 1950s), and in return, they apparently gave 100 or more MGM movies (from the 1950s and early 1960s) to those European distributors to release in Europe. All of the posters and lobby cards from both sets of releases have a very similar type of somewhat garish, very colorful artwork, and most have an MGM logo that is different from that on other MGM movies of the same time period. None of these posters or lobby cards (except for the very first few of them) have any dates on them. Over the years, I have seen many of these posters and lobby cards (from both types) sold as first release, but I believe that they are all mid to late 1960s re-releases, and that the ones from U.S. movies are "international" posters and lobby cards, so if the movie was made in the 1950s, then these are re-releases, but if the movie was made in the 1960s, then these are first international release. This particular poster is one of the movies that was a European movie sent to MGM for an English language release. If anyone knows more about these MGM releases, please e-mail us and we will post it here. This one-sheet does not have any NSS information. Note that next to the lot number in the title of this auction we put "FF". The "FF" is a note for our shipping department to let them know the poster is stored "Fully Folded". This allows us to more quickly find the item in our warehouse, therefore helping us to ship all orders as quickly as possible. Other items will have either a "UF" (UnFolded), "TF" (Tri-Folded), or "FF" (Fully Folded) next to the lot number, but please know that no matter which you buy (or if you buy any combination thereof), you only pay a single U.S. shipping charge (non-U.S. orders are charged the actual cost of shipping), as we can unfold tri-folded or fully folded posters and roll them in with unfolded posters, thus sending a single package.
Overall Condition: very good to fine Notable Defects: There is a foreign stamp in the top right background area, but otherwise, the poster is in nice condition!
Explanation Of What This Condition Grade Means: This item has only a few VERY minor imperfections. We may have written just a few words about those imperfections, but we may not have, as they are very minor. Note that we are very harsh condition graders, and that our "very good to fine" compares favorably to many dealers' "fine" condition! You should look at our "super-sized" image of the actual item, which will confirm just how nice this item is!
More About This Poster Type: One-Sheets are the standard movie poster size, what you see outside of any movie theater. From 1896 until roughly 1990, almost all actual theater-used one-sheets measured 27" x 41" (since then, most one-sheets measure 27" x 40"). Up until 1980 (or thereabouts) the vast majority of one-sheets were folded twice horizontally and once vertically (this is in no way considered a defect). Sometime during the late '70s, studios began printing one-sheets rolled. Most one-sheets after the mid-1980s are printed unfolded, though it is still possible to find some newer posters folded. Most newer one-sheets are printed double-sided (with a mirror image on the back) for use in a light box in front of the theaters. However, sometimes the studios print some posters single-sided. All of the one-sheets (unless otherwise noted) being sold by eMoviePoster are original vintage theater-used one-sheets!
