Note: Scroll down for the condition, description, and item defects. Film Description Death of Gunfighter, the 1969 Don Siegel & Robert Totten (billed together as Alan Smithee, a pseudonym for directors who have their name taken off of a production, because of various reasons, but almost always partially because they don't want to be associated with the movie) turn-of-the-20th-century Texas outlaw cowboy western ("Marshal Patch... He didn't have an enemy in the world, but all his friends plotted to kill him!!!"; "Marshal Patch... He lives by the law of the gun... Now the town used it to destroy him!!!"; "From the novel by Lewis B. Patten") starring Richard Widmark, Lena Horne (beautiful and very talented black African-American singer who appeared in a number of musical movies, both all-black ones and ones from major studios), Carroll O' Connor, Dub Taylor, John Saxon ("as Lou Trinidad"), Victor French (best remembered from TV's "Highway to Heaven"), Harry Carey Jr., and James Lydon (best remembered for playing the title role in the long running "Henry Aldrich" movie series)
More About This Item Note that this poster was stamped "FOR" which means it was printed for use outside the United States (there would also have been posters stamped "DOM" for use within the United States). Often, the "FOR" posters would have a different (sometimes racier) image than that for the one used in the United States. Note that next to the lot number in the title of this auction we put "FF". The "FF" is a note for our shipping department to let them know the poster is stored "Fully Folded". This allows us to more quickly find the item in our warehouse, therefore helping us to ship all orders as quickly as possible. Other items will have either a "UF" (UnFolded), "TF" (Tri-Folded), or "FF" (Fully Folded) next to the lot number, but please know that no matter which you buy (or if you buy any combination thereof), you only pay a single U.S. shipping charge (non-U.S. orders are charged the actual cost of shipping), as we can unfold tri-folded or fully folded posters and roll them in with unfolded posters, thus sending a single package.
Overall Condition: very good to fine Notable Defects: There is a foreign stamp in the top right blank background area, but otherwise, the poster is in nice condition!
Explanation Of What This Condition Grade Means: This item has only a few VERY minor imperfections. We may have written just a few words about those imperfections, but we may not have, as they are very minor. Note that we are very harsh condition graders, and that our "very good to fine" compares favorably to many dealers' "fine" condition! You should look at our "super-sized" image of the actual item, which will confirm just how nice this item is!
More About This Poster Type: One-Sheets are the standard movie poster size, what you see outside of any movie theater. From 1896 until roughly 1990, almost all actual theater-used one-sheets measured 27" x 41" (since then, most one-sheets measure 27" x 40"). Up until 1980 (or thereabouts) the vast majority of one-sheets were folded twice horizontally and once vertically (this is in no way considered a defect). Sometime during the late '70s, studios began printing one-sheets rolled. Most one-sheets after the mid-1980s are printed unfolded, though it is still possible to find some newer posters folded. Most newer one-sheets are printed double-sided (with a mirror image on the back) for use in a light box in front of the theaters. However, sometimes the studios print some posters single-sided. All of the one-sheets (unless otherwise noted) being sold by eMoviePoster are original vintage theater-used one-sheets!
