A Linenbacked French Travel Poster (measures 24 1/4" x 39 1/4" [62 x 100 cm]) (Learn More) Air France: Londres (London), the 1948 French airplane airline aviation travel poster encouraging people to use Air France when visiting London, England. Note that this poster features Robert Falcucci art of a Queen's Guard in front of Tower Bridge and the Houses of Parliament. Artist: Robert Falcucci Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair. The poster was never folded. It had a small tear in the top blank border and one near the bottom of the left blank border, with some creases and small tears in the right border. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. Unfortunately, after the poster was backed, it acquired some scattered yellow water stains in the top and down the left side. Most of these are in the borders, but there is one in the "R" of "LONDRES" at top, which has also rippled the paper. There is also water staining on the back of the center that does not show through to the front, but it has caused a significant vertical ripple in the center of the poster. The poster could still be displayed as it is, but it would make far more sense to have it re-backed. Since the water staining can likely be removed chemically, it will look wonderful after re-backing, without paint restoration, but bear in mind the cost of this re-backing before bidding on it.
