Date Sold 11/7/2019Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Cat-Women of the Moon, the 1953 Arthur Hilton science fiction (sci-fi) thriller ("You've never seen anything like it"; "They're Fiery... Fearless... Ferocious!"; "See: The deadly cave of forbidden moon-gold!"; "See: The lost city of love-starved cat-women!"; "See: The blood thirsty battle of the moon monsters!"; a classic low-budget cheesy movie!) starring Sonny Tufts, Marie Windsor, Victor Jory, Susan Morrow, Douglas Fowley, Bill Phipps, Carol Brewster, and "featuring the Hollywood Cover Girls as the Cat-Women". Note that the film distributor "Astor Pictures" primarily distributed re-releases of major studios in the late 1940s and 1950s, but they DID produce a few of their own movies, including this one. This is the first release of this movie, and it NOT a re-release! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this first release half-sheet from this movie! Also note that this poster has never been machine folded! Some pre-1970 half-sheet posters were machine folded twice horizontally at the poster exchange, while some were not. It can be difficult to find an unfolded example of many pre-1970 half-sheet posters (note that most post-1970 half-sheets were NOT machine folded, so they are pretty much only found unfolded, and therefore this does not apply to those half-sheets). Condition: good. The poster was never folded. It has slight discoloration scattered in some areas from exposure to moisture, but the light stains are mostly noticeable on back and surprisingly not as much on front except in some lighter-colored areas. Some of the moisture has caused deterioration and paper loss along the outer edges of the lower and upper blank borders and there is some light surface paper loss on back of the left edge (and there are some scuff marks and creases on front along that edge). There is a diagonal crease at lower right. Obviously, this ultra-rare poster has defects, but it could still be enjoyed as it is, or certainly, a restorer could back the poster, and after proper restoration, it will look great!
