An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Style B One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 39" [69 x 99 cm]) (Learn More)

Aloha, the 1931 Albert S. Rogell South Seas tropical island interracial romantic melodrama ("A spectacular love epic"; "She Shocked Them - They Mocked Her - This wild tropical beauty who wore a grass skirt to her wedding, but couldn't accustom herself to the silks, velvets and garters - to the do's and don'ts - of her husband's world"; a wild story of the kind they don't make anymore!; about a rich young heir to a coconut plantation who lives on a South Sea island, and he falls in love with a local girl after she does the "Dance of Love", but after they are married and he takes her back to San Francisco, people look down on her because she is "not white", and he defies his father and takes her back to the island, but they have to live in poverty, and they have a son, and they have misunderstandings, and he orders her to stay away from their son, and she goes to a volcano and says she will join her ancestors, and he rushes to rescue her, but gets there just as she jumps in the volcano!) starring Ben Lyon, Raquel Torres, Robert Edeson, Alan Hale Sr., and Thelma Todd. Note that this movie has massive similarity to King Vidor's "Bird of Paradise", made the following year. We don't know if one movie inspired the other, or if there was any controversy at this time over the similarity of the two movies. If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
