An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Style A Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More)

Rex Beach's The Mating Call, the 1928 James Cruze silent Ku-Klux-Klan romantic love triangle thriller melodrama (based on the novel by Rex Beach; produced by Howard Hughes; a wild story about a farmer in the South who marries a local girl and then goes to serve in World War I, where he is a hero; but when he returns, he discovers that his marriage was annulled so that his wife could marry the local rich man, who is also a leader in the KKK, and he ends up framed for murder by the KKK) starring Thomas Meighan, Evelyn Brent, Renee Adoree, Alan Roscoe, Gardner James, and Helen Foster. Note that producer Howard R. Hughes is THE Howard Hughes, and this was his 5th movie as a producer. Strangely, the IMDb lists him as "uncredited", yet the lobby cards and herald clearly show that he was! In case you were wondering, the "R." stands for "Robard"!

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned two lobby cards and a herald from this movie until we received this half-sheet! Also note that this poster has never been machine folded! Some pre-1970 half-sheet posters were machine folded twice horizontally at the poster exchange, while some were not. It can be difficult to find an unfolded example of many pre-1970 half-sheet posters (note that most post-1970 half-sheets were NOT machine folded, so they are pretty much only found unfolded, and therefore this does not apply to those half-sheets).

Condition: very good. The poster was never folded. It has some small tears and tiny paper loss in the borders, with some creases around the edges and one in the top left that enters the yellow background. It has a scratch mark in the blue background above the "G" of "MEIGHAN" at top right. But other than the above, the poster is in excellent condition, and is not fragile or darkened, and it has really bright colors, which is a big plus for a poster that is this old. It surely has survived in about as good condition as one could have hoped!
