An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Paper Banner (measures 24" x 83" [61 x 211 cm]) (Learn More)

Irving Berlin's White Christmas, the classic 1954 Michael Curtiz post-World War II sisters holiday singing-and-dancing romantic musical (with classic "Lyrics and music by Irving Berlin"; "The most fabulous music-and-mirth show in motion picture history!"; "Joyous entertainment for every season, any year!!!!") starring Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, Vera-Ellen, and Dean Jagger. Note that this was the first motion picture to be filmed in VistaVision! Also note that the title song "White Christmas" was first introduced in 1942 in the Fred Astaire/Bing Crosby movie "Holiday Inn", and it proved to be so popular that this movie was made, utilizing part of the plot of that earlier film, and reusing this song, which was now over a decade old, but it proved to be an even greater hit!

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we previously auctioned this exact same poster in 2011. The buyer had intended to display it on his wall, but he didn't have a wall large enough for it, so he has now reconsigned it to us. It is the only example of this poster from this all time holiday classic we have ever seen!

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had creases and scuffs scattered throughout, more so in the solid colored areas and down the left and right sides of the banner (typical of these paper banners from this period). There are some small areas in the top right of the VistaVision box where the paper is creased and slightly "lifting". Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer linenbacked the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did little restoration to the defects described above, but they are really not very distracting, especially from a normal viewing distance.
