An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Three-Sheet Movie Poster (3sh; measures 41" x 81" [104 x 206 cm]) (Learn More)

The Lure of the Circus, the 1917 W.B. Pearson silent circus animal melodrama ("'101' Bison Feature") starring Eileen Sedgwick, Fred Church, Kewpie Morgan, and Doc Crane. Note that this is a curious movie! It was made in 1917 with Eileen Sedgwick and Fred Church by 101 Bison, and then apparently it was remade as a Universal serial just a year later, and Eileen Sedgwick starred again, but Fred Church was replaced by Universal's star Eddie Polo. We don't know if the serial is an expanded version of the 1917 movie, or if Sedgwick was hired away by Universal to make this movie. Also note that Fred Church is pretty forgotten today, but he started in westerns in 1908, and made hundreds of them over the next two decades, appearing with Bronco Billy Anderson in many movies. He continued after the coming of sound, but made far fewer movies, and completely retired in 1936. Amazingly, he lived all the way until 1983, passing away at the age of 93. If anyone knows more about either of these movies, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Important Added Info:

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster was likely found under a floor or behind a wall. It was quite fragile and had considerable damage along many of the folds and some scattered throughout. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. Given its many defects, the poster was pretty well backed, but you can clearly see many signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept its defects described above and have closely looked at our super-sized image!
