Important Added Info: Note that this is a poster from the "S2 Art Group". In the late 1990s, this company bought 100 year-old lithograph presses, and completely refurbished them, and then recreated stone litho printing plates for classic movie posters (mostly one-sheets, and mostly the most expensive posters from the 1920s and 1930s!), and then printed them on the 100 year-old presses, in exactly the same way the posters were originally printed (re-creating them down to the finest detail within the art), and the one-sheets measure 27" x 41". The only way that they are different from the originals is that they have small writing at the bottom that indicates the name of the person who created the new printing plates, along with the year the particular poster was printed. In some ways they are better than the original posters, because they are printed on a much higher quality paper (similar to that of a 30x40, but somewhat heavier, and not on a high-gloss coated stock, but with a "flat" finish). If you have never seen one of these in person, you might think they are simply "a reproduction", but they really are vastly superior to any reproductions, and they look incredible in person! Most of us could never hope to have the original of this poster (which sells for hundreds of thousands of dollars!), and this recreation is certainly an attractive and affordable alternative! Note that, in addition to the one-sheets that they recreated, they also did recreation three-sheets of King Kong and Metropolis. Each of those was printed on three one-sheet sized pieces of the exact same paper used for the one-sheets, designed to overlap (just as three-sheets were originally printed many decades ago). Those two three-sheet recreations are really remarkable and are incredible to view in person (I have seen them both linenbacked and framed). IMPORTANT! Note that the S2 Art Group also has a lower quality 24" x 36" series of one-sheet recreations that retail for $49 each, but are NOT stone lithographs. The recreation offered here one of the two three-sheet size recreations this company did, with ultra high quality printing. When it is framed, it will look incredible on the new owner's wall, and it will sell for a fraction of the cost of the first release 1933 three-sheet with the same image, which sells for hundreds of thousands of dollars! Also note that this poster has a small "P.P." written at lower left below the first "K" in the title. We have been told that this means that this poster is a "printer's test" meaning it was printed and then submitted to those in a position to approve it for the final printing run! Finally, note that this S2 recreation three-sheet was printed in 3 sections designed to overlap. UPDATED 03/01/2013: Note that we have updated the Important Added Info section with information regarding the "P.P." found at the bottom of the poster. Condition: fine.
