An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

Charlie Chan's Secret, the 1936 Gordon Wiles Asian detective crime mystery thriller ("Is Chan doomed at last?"; "Death strikes unseen! Dread peril threatens! But his lips are sealed! Why?"; "Based on the character 'Charlie Chan' created by Earl Derr Biggers") starring Warner Oland (in the title role as Charlie Chan), Rosina Lawrence, Charles Quigley, Henrietta Crosman, Edward Trevor, Astrid Allwyn, Herbert Mundin, Ivan Miller, and Francis Ford. Note that the very first Charlie Chan movie was "House Without a Key" in 1925, with George Kuwa as Chan. In 1927, "The Chinese Parrot" (directed by Paul Leni) starred Sojin Kamiyama as Chan. In 1929 came the third movie, "Behind That Curtain", starring E.L. Park as Charlie Chan. 1931 brought "Charlie Chan Carries On", starring Warner Oland in the first of many movies with him as the Asian detective, and he was later replaced by Sidney Toler and then Roland Winters (there would ultimately be 47 Charlie Chan movies!). Of course, Charlie Chan is one of the most memorable literary creations ever, from author Earl Derr Biggers, but because politically correct-minded people have viewed the character as outdated, the movies are rarely shown, which is a shame!

Important Added Info: Note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Condition: fair to good. The card was folded once in each direction and there was some wear on the left 4" of the horizontal fold, and someone did slight touch up to that area. There were also staple holes 2" in from the blank border on each fold, and someone did slight touch up to those areas as well. There is a rectangular area of darkening in the lower right corner that extends into the image, but is mostly only noticeable in the blank borders. In spite of the above defects, the card displays pretty well, or certainly, additional restoration could be performed, but bear in mind the card's defects and look at our super-sized image before bidding on it.
