A 1959 Re-release Vintage Theatrical Folded French One-Panel "Grande" Movie Poster (1p; measures 45 1/2" x 63" [116 x 160 cm]) (Learn More)

Aleksandr Nevskiy (released in English-speaking countries as "Alexander Nevsky"), the classic 1938 Sergei M. Eisenstein Russian biographical historical 13th century medieval knight war action melodrama ("With original musical score by Prokofieff"; Eisenstein staged the battle sequences to match the wonderful Prokofieff music) starring Aleksandra Danilova, Nikolai Cherkasov (in the title role as Aleksandr Nevsky), Nikolai Okhlopkov, Andrei Abrikosov, and Dmitri Orlov. Note that this classic movie was first released in the U.S. in 1939, and then in just a few countries in the 1940s and then to the rest of the world over the 1950s and 1960s. Because virtually none of the posters are dated, it is very difficult to tell what is from the first release, but ANY first release posters for this classic movie are incredibly rare!

Artist: Gaborit-Lefoureau

Condition: fair. The poster is very fragile and has separation, tears, and some tiny paper loss on parts of many foldlines. There is paper loss in the bottom of the left border and a long vertical tear down the right side of the bottom half. The poster is in urgent need of expert professional restoration. But the poster is mostly "all there", and after linenbacking by a talented professional, the poster will look fantastic, and it will likely require little paint restoration within the image. Please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept its defects described above or are willing to pay to have them properly restored!
