An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) New Faces of 1937, the 1937 Leigh Jason musical comedy ("A lavish laugh-and-rhythm show to drive dull care away! Eight great song writers produced the words and captivating tunes! Seven thrilling stars will make you laugh and forget! Fifty exciting beauties will make you look and remember! A hundred new faces, brought from the world's gay places, will keep you walking on air!"; "Laughat the looney guys! Look at the lovely girls! Listen to these tantalizing tunes! The producers raided the night clubs, robbed the stage and ransacked radio to bring these stars together for the first time on the screen. When this show hits you , you'll see stars! The greatest gang of talent you ever saw in one mad, gay, exciting movie!") starring Joe Penner, Milton Berle, Harry Parke (billed as "Parkyakarkus"), Harriet Hilliard, William Brady, Jerome Cowan, Thelma Leeds, "and a hundred new faces!" The card had nail holes, creases, tears, and some areas of paper loss around the edges of the card and many creases, smudges, scuffs, and a few nail holes scattered throughout the image. Overall, the card was in fair to condition prior to paperbacking. The card was well backed by a talented restorer, who did not touch up many of the smudges and scuffs (and I agree with that decision, because to do so would have required lots of paint, which would have given the card a "heavily restored" look, and I don't feel the smudges and scuffs are all that distracting, and they help establish that this is a genuine 74 year-old original window card!). Obviously, one would prefer to find an example of this window card that had no defects or restoration, but I do not know if another example of this card exists (or if it does, if the owner would consider parting with it!). The poster was pretty well backed, but you can clearly see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Learn More about condition grades
