Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Swedish Movie Poster (measures 23" x 35") (Learn More) Pointed Heels, the 1929 A. Edward Sutherland New York City Manhattan show business romantic love triangle musical comedy ("A Paramount all talking picture"; "By Charles Brackett"; about a chorus girl who is in love with a would-be composer, and there is a suave producer who is in love with her as well) starring William Powell, Helen Kane, Fay Wray, Richard 'Skeets' Gallagher, Phillips Holmes, Adrienne Dore, Eugene Pallette, and the Albertina Rasch ballet group (who perform a ballet number with Fay Wray). Note that Phillips Holmes had made an impression in some movies in the late 1920s. In 1931, he would get the lead in the first version of "An American Tragedy", which made it seem like he would become a major star, but that didn't materialize. He had a major affair with Libby Holman, but that was certainly complicated, and when they broke up, she immediately married his brother! Oddly, years later, Holman would have another very complicated affair with Montgomery Clift, who played the same part in the remake of "An American Tragedy", retitled "A Place in the Sun". Sadly, Holmes died in a plane crash in 1942. I am very surprised no one has made a movie about his life, or a joint movie about him and Libby Holman! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: This poster has been professionally linenbacked. It now looks great, and most dealers would describe it as "fine (or mint) on linen". We have noted the defects that were restored below (and feel everyone should always do this!). Many collectors would not be aware of the restoration this poster has had unless it was specifically shown to them! Condition: fine. The poster had tack holes in the top corners. Otherwise, the poster was in very nice condition prior to linenbacking and looks great now!. Most of the linenbacked posters we sell were restored by the finest professionals. An expertly linenbacked poster will often appear "mint", as its defects have been made to "vanish". We are the only seller we are aware of who always tries to describe the condition of the poster prior to being linenbacked, so you are fully aware of what restoration was performed.
