An Original Vintage Theatrical 8 1/4" x 10" [21 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Bette Davis was a legendary actress from the 1930s to the 1980s. She was Warner Bros. leading female star throughout the late 1930s, and she continued as a major star throughout the 1940s, and she had one of her greatest triumphs, All About Eve (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), in 1950. She refused to retire, and took out a famous ad in Variety seeking work (citing her two Oscars!), and she starred in What Ever Happened To Baby Jane? (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film) and Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte in the 1960s. Some of her other movies include: Dangerous (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Jezebel (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Now, Voyager (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Of Human Bondage, Star (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Mr. Skeffington (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Little Foxes (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Letter (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Dark Victory (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film) and too many others to list! AND Charles Laughton was an English actor from the 1920s to the 1960s. He appeared on the stage in England beginning in 1926, and he appeared in a few movie shorts in the 1920s, but his acting career really did not begin until 1931. Some of his movies include: Witness for the Prosecution, Spartacus, Mutiny On The Bounty (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Advise and Consent, The Private Life Of Henry VIII (winner of the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), and Island of Lost Souls. He was married for many years to Elsa Lanchester, although he was gay. He directed a single movie, "Night of the Hunter", and because it was not financially successful, he never directed another, which is a real shame, because that movie is considered a major classic by most critics! Important Added Info: Note that this really cool still shows Bette Davis in full costume while making "The Private Lives of Elizabeth and Essex" while being visited by Charles Laughton, who would have been making "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" either shortly before or after this still was taken! Also note that this still measures 8 1/4" x 10" [21 x 25 cm]. Condition: very good. Someone wrote "HH 2-D" in the top blank border and there are a few minor creases scattered in the still.
