Virgil Finlay was an American pulp fantasy, science fiction, and horror illustrator from the 1930s to the 1970s. He has been called "part of the pulp magazine history... one of the foremost contributors of original and imaginative art work for the most memorable science fiction and fantasy publications of our time". While he worked in a range of media, Finlay became famous for detailed pen-and-ink drawings. The Science Fiction Hall of Fame inducted Finlay in 2012. He passed away in 1971 at the age of 56.
Artist: Virgil Finlay
Important Added Info: Note that this is the actual original art that this great fantasy artist drew for the story "Pawn of the Black Fleet", Part I of which appeared in the January 1962 issue of Amazing Stories. Apparently, the editor of the magazine was really taken by this art, because he used it for the back cover! A copy of the original magazine in pretty nice condition will be sent to the winner of this auction, together with the original art.

Condition: very good. There are faint brown stains in the top left blank area. Otherwise, the art is in nice condition (see our images).
