An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded German "A0" Festival Poster (33x47; measures 32 1/2" x 47 1/4" [83 x 120 cm]) (Learn More) Mummenschanz (literally translates to "Mummery"), the 1934 German poster promoting a masked theater troupe festival to take place at the Schwabinger Brewery in Munich, Germany from January 25th to the 30th. Note that this poster features art of a person in a costume by E. Tieck. In 1972, the "Mummenschanz Mask Theater" was founded in the U.S., Canada, and South America (they even appeared as special guest stars on "The Muppet Show"!), and there was a Mummenschanz show on Broadway that ran from 1977 to 1980. If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Artist: E. Tieck Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have only auctioned one in all our years of auctioning and that same poster has been reconsigned for this auction! Note that this poster must be sent in a tube that is over 32" long (which is why it is in this set of auctions). You can tell how long the tube will need to be by adding 2 inches to the shorter dimension of the length or width (so 40x60s need to be sent in a 42 inch long tube, etc). Most of these posters (with the notable exception of paper banners) CAN be combined in the same tube together, with a few exceptions. Bear in mind that a very long tube (42 inches or longer) will cost a lot more to send than a 30" tube, so bear that in mind before bidding on this poster. Condition: very good to fine. The poster was never folded. It had a few small tears in the borders that have tape on the back. Someone put some tape on the back of the entire right border where there had been a few small tears, and that tape has only slightly bled through to the front. Overall, it has likely survived in about as nice condition as one could hope, with a poster of this age and size! Learn More about condition grades
