An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More)

The Pink Panther, the classic 1963 Blake Edwards English/U.S. detective mystery crime comedy spoof ("You only live once... so see the Pink Panther twice!!!"; this movie spawned a long running series) starring David Niven, Peter Sellers (as Inspector Clouseau), Robert Wagner, Capucine, Brenda De Banzie, Colin Gordon, Fran Jeffries (billed as "introducing Fran Jeffries"), Claudia Cardinale ("As the Princess"), and featuring a very memorable musical soundtrack by Henry Mancini! Note that, oddly, this movie had premieres in five European countries in December 1963, and then continued to premiere in other countries in early 1964, and finally had its U.S. premiere in March 1964. We have no idea why the producers of the movie took this most unusual releasing strategy. This allowed the producers to make a sequel movie soon after filming on this movie ended, and that sequel, A Shot in the Dark, premiered in the U.S. in June 1964, just three months after this movie first played in the U.S.!

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had fine surface paper loss on parts of some foldlines (typical of high-gloss posters of this period), and slight darkening on parts of the folds. It also had paper loss in the bottom right corner, in the United Artists logo. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
