An Original Vintage English Movie Trade Ad (measures 11" x 17" [28 x 43 cm]; 2 pages) (Learn More)

Dulcimer Street (released in other English-speaking countries as "London Belongs to Me "; see below), the 1948 Sidney Gilliat English murder mystery crime thriller ("From the novel by Norman Collins"; about a young man who lives with his mother in a boarding house, and he gets mixed up with gangsters, which has an effect on his mother and the other residents) starring an extremely young Richard Attenborough ("by arrangement with the Boulting Brothers"), Susan Shaw, Alastair Sim, and Fay Compton. Note that the original English trade ad for this movie advertised it as "London Belongs to Me", which was the name of the source novel, but it appears that the title was changed in England to "Dulcimer Street" prior to its release there, because that is the title the English one-sheet has. However, it was released in other English-speaking countries under the original title of London Belongs to Me. But because the poster for the country of original says "Dulcimer Street", we are listing it under that title.

Artist: Eric W. Pulford
Important Added Info: Note that this is a great two-page trade ad taken out of a Kinematograph Weekly English trade magazine (we have a number of them in this set of auctions, and also some one-page English trade ads and a few English brochures). Studios would run these elaborate 2-page ads in issues of this magazine, and they often had images not found on any of the regular movie posters (either English or U.S.). This 2-page trade ad was removed from a 1948 issue of this magazine, and it will look incredible displayed on the new owner's wall. The back of those two pages have text or ads for other movies from that time, and we have not pictured those back pages because the primary interest to bidders is the great two-page color ad, which measures 11" x 17". Also note that this is a country of origin item for this English movie.

Condition: very good. The ad was removed from a magazine (see above). It was the centerfold of the magazine so the two pages are on a single sheet, and there are staple holes at the spine (see our image).
