Date Sold 10/23/2011Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Magazine (measures 8 1/2" x 11 1/2") (Learn More) Short Wave & Television ("The Radio Experimenter's Magazine"), the pulp magazine published in the 1930s and edited by Hugo Gernsback, a legendary figure in early pulp magazines (he was the editor of "Amazing Stories" and many others). Apparently, there were originally two magazines, Short Wave and Television, and Official Short Wave Listener the two combined together at some point (no doubt due to the economics of The Great Depression). Each issue was filled with great illustrated articles about all sorts of short wave radio, including listings of what was being broadcast on short wave all over the world, plus articles from all over the world on how to improve your short wave radio. Not surprisingly, given that it was 1937, there was not a lot of coverage of television within the magazine, but what there was is wonderful history of the beginnings of TV! Important Added Info: Note that this issue has a great article about the new CBS television transmitter that was about to be added to the top of the famed Chrysler Building, mentioning that CBS had not been active in television until this point, but that this new transmitter would allow them to compete with NBC's existing transmitter on top of the Empire State Building! Also note that we have provided a picture of the front cover of the magazine, and pictures of interior two-page spreads (including the table of contents page if there is one; but we didn't make much effort to find the best ones!). These images should greatly help you judge the overall condition of the magazine, and the contents page lets you know exactly what articles and stories are contained in this particular issue. Please know that these magazines are sealed in bags and are ready for shipping, and we cannot answer any questions about them or look through them for you, so please bid (or do not bid) based on the images we have provided. Condition: very good. Note that we have attempted to check to see if the magazine is complete and uncut, and we believe that it is. However, there is a slight possibility that we might have missed a small cut or a page that was neatly removed, and if that happens, you can return the magazine. We have solely provided an overall description of the condition of the magazine, but you can also refer to our super-sized images. Please bid (or not bid) based on that overall grade and by viewing the super-sized images. Learn More about condition grades
