An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) Faithless, the 1932 Harry Beaumont Depression-era romantic melodrama (about a spoiled heiress whose father goes broke, and her boyfriend loses his job, so she goes to sponge off of rich friends, but she spirals downward, and she becomes a mistress to a rich man, and then she leaves him and is starving and meets her old boyfriend, and they get married, but then he gets injured and she becomes a prostitute to pay for a life saving operation for him, and he learns of what she did after he gets well, and he agrees to take her back!) starring Tallulah Bankhead, Robert Montgomery, Hugh Herbert, Maurice Murphy, Louise Closser Hale, Henry Kolker, and Lawrence Grant NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that the card measures very slightly under 14" x 22" (an extremely tiny amount in each direction!) and has no left, right, or bottom blank borders, but it has NOT been trimmed (this was done at a time when MGM was experimenting with having as few borders as possible). Also note that this poster has been paperbacked. What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The card had pinholes, creases, tears, and some areas of paper loss around the edges of the card and some creases, smudges, scuffs, and a few pinholes scattered throughout the image. Overall, the card was in good to very good condition prior to paperbacking. The card was well backed by a talented restorer, who did not touch up many of the faint smudges and scuffs (and I agree with that decision, because to do so would have required lots of paint, which would have given the card a "heavily restored" look, and I don't feel the smudges and scuffs are all that distracting, and they help establish that this is a genuine 79 year-old original window card!). Obviously, one would prefer to find an example of this window card that had no defects or restoration, but I do not know if another example of this card exists (or if it does, if the owner would consider parting with it!). The poster was pretty well backed, but you can clearly see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. IMPORTANT! Note that the person who restored the card did not realize that it did not have a bottom blank border (this was something MGM was doing at the time; see above), so they added a bottom blank border that has false information on it!
