An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Three-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 41" x 81") (Learn More)

Gun Crazy, the 1949 Joseph H. Lewis bad girl crime film noir ("Thrill crazy... Kill crazy..."; "The Flaming Life of Laurie Starr [the lethal blonde]"; "...her violent loves! ...her vicious crimes! ...her wild escapes!"; "Notorious Laurie Starr! ...wanted in a dozen states... hunted by the F.B.I.!"; "She was more than any man could handle!"; "From The SATURDAY EVENING POST Story by MacKinlay Kantor") starring Peggy Cummins, John Dall, Berry Kroeger, Russ Tamblyn, and Don Beddoe. Note that in 1949 Joseph H. Lewis had released this movie as "Deadly Is the Female". In 1950 he re-titled this movie "Gun Crazy" and gave it a full-scale release under that name. There are posters of all sizes and lobby cards for both titles, and the "Gun Crazy" paper has never been called a "re-release" within the hobby, although technically it is.

Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and the restorer did a good job, but you can see signs of the restoration from inches away (since most people look at posters framed on a wall from at least a few feet away, we don't feel this is a defect, but we feel it should be noted). See below for this poster's pre-restoration condition (we are the only major auction company we know of that shares this information with our bidders, but we wish everyone did!).

very good. There were small tears and creases down portions of the vertical foldline and across the left half of the top foldline. There was a much lesser number of creases on the other foldlines. The borders of the poster and the image area other than along the folds was in quite nice condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was well linenbacked, but there are a few tiny areas in the upper part of the left and middle foldlines where there is slight surface paper loss. It would be a very simple matter for any talented restorer to touch up those tiny areas WITHOUT re-backing the poster. Overall, the poster was in nice condition prior to backing, and after very minor touch up, it will look fantastic!
