He is best remembered for his starring role in Forbidden Planet, and although he was a serious actor for decades, he resurfaced in the 1980s with a comic turn in Airplane (and many other films after including Mel Brooks' Dracula: Dead and Loving It, Spy Hard, Wrongfully Accused, Scary Movies 3 and 4, and more). He passed away in 2010 at the age of 84. A joker until the end, his gravestone has the epitaph "Let 'er rip", which refers to his frequent pranks involving flatulence. Some of his other movies include: the Naked Gun series, Repossessed, and Creepshow Important Added Info: Note that this item (which is an 8" x 10" color transparency) has been personally autographed (signed) by Leslie Nielsen! Note that the item comes with a "certificate of authenticity" from PSA/DNA Authentication Services. Apparently, at this time, someone at PSA/DNA who did not understand movie memorabilia had the wonderful idea of putting a sticker from their company in the lower left of the FRONT of the still (see our image)! They also provided a CoA card with the same number that the sticker has. Note that this item was consigned to us by a man who has been a major movie memorabilia collector and dealer from the 1970s on. During that time, he would regularly purchase collections of movie memorabilia from both dealers and collectors, and in some of those collections he purchased autographed items. Both we and our consignor feel it is quite likely that the autograph on this item is authentic, but he does not have a certificate of authenticity (unless noted above). As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction.
