An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Hearst Metrotone News, the stock one-sheet for the 1930s series of William Randolph Hearst MGM newsreels ("You See and Hear the news") which provided moviegoers with information and film from the latest news, current affairs, and entertainment. They would print many posters with a title and border art in full color, and a large area left blank for headlines from current newsreels to be overprinted, so that they could use them for many different newsreels. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that the news items included in this 1930 newsreel were "Graf Zeppelin conquers sea gales! Giant Dirigible, After Many Thrills, Completes 13,400 Mile Journey via South America to New York", "170,000 see youth win auto classic Arnold, 23, Victor at Indianapolis in 500 Mile Race", "'Our Helen' again triumphs in France Tilden Introduces U.S. Tennis Queen as Paris Battle Opens", and "Daredevil rides Niagara in barrel"! The "daredevil" was likely George Stathakis, who survived the plunge but his barrel was stuck behind the falls and he suffocated before he could be retrieved 18 hours later. His pet turtle was along for the ride and survived. Condition: good to very good. The poster is somewhat brittle and the bottom quarter of the vertical fold is completely separated and there is some tattering and separation at the crossfolds (more so at bottom). There are some pin holes, small tears, and stains in each corner of the poster. The poster is otherwise in pretty nice condition and if one chose to have it restored it would look great!
