Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie posters from this movie are incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a one-sheet (28 years ago, and it sold for $2,850; and NO other posters, only lobby cards, stills, and pressbooks) from this movie until we received this 40x60! Not only that, but it is an incredibly rare 40x60 from the 1930s. Oddly, movie studios made these posters for all their major productions in the 1930s, but theaters were charged around ten times the price of a three-sheet for this poster, so we would not think very many theaters ordered them, and very few survive from ANY 1930s movies! In fact, in all our years of auctioning, we have auctioned fewer than a dozen studio released 40x60s from ANY movies made before 1940. They are THAT rare!

Also, note that this poster was fragile before being linenbacked, and while it displays pretty well, it could not possibly be rolled, so it will need to be sent in an extremely large flat package that measures approximately 42" x 62". This will be expensive to ship (and prohibitively expensive outside the U.S.), so incorporate the cost of shipping into how much you bid.

Note that this poster needs to be shipped in a tube that measures between 42" and 44" long. Therefore the shipping for this poster will be more than that for a poster that ships in a tube 32" or shorter, and possibly much more. Please bear this added shipping expense in mind before bidding on this poster. What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had many creases, tears, smudges, scuffs, and stains scattered throughout, and it had creases, tears, and paper loss around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. Someone mounted the poster onto linen and performed reasonable restoration to the image area. They painted over the borders, but you can see signs of the border defects, and in the years since the restoration was performed, there is now surface paper loss in the top right blank corner. You can clearly see signs of the defects and the restoration, but from any reasonable viewing distance, this poster would display well on any wall. It is quite fragile and could not possibly be rolled, and will need to be sent in a very large flat package, and will need to be handled quite carefully until it is framed (or certainly, one could choose to have additional restoration performed). One would prefer to find an example of this poster in better condition, but it is unlikely that any other example exists! Please bear in mind all of the above before bidding on this extremely rare poster.
