An Original 1948 Vintage Theatrical English Movie Trade Ad (measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm]; measures 11" x 22 3/4" when unfolded; 6 pages) (Learn More) Forever Amber, the 1947 Otto Preminger historical medieval England romantic melodrama (produced by Darryl F. Zanuck; "From the novel by Kathleen Winsor"; "Screen Play by Philip Dunne & Ring Lardner, Jr."; set in 1660 England, about a country girl who literally sleeps her way to nobility, but sacrifices much, including her true love, in the process) starring Linda Darnell (in the title role "as Amber"), Cornel Wilde ("as Bruce Carlton"), Richard Greene ("as Lord Almsbury"), George Sanders ("as King Charles II"), Glenn Langan, Richard Haydn, Jessica Tandy, Anne Revere, and John Russell. Note that this novel was very controversial when it was published, and it was thought at first to be unfilmable, and the Breen office objected to many elements of the movie, and Fox made many changes to the film because of that. Also note that Peggy Cummins was originally cast in the lead role, and she was brought from England to the U.S. specifically for this movie. But when the movie was delayed over the censorship objections, it was decided that Cummins was not well enough known in America, and Linda Darnell was recast in her place. Important Added Info: Note that this is a great six-page trade ad taken out of a Kinematograph Weekly English trade magazine (we have a number of them in this set of auctions, and also some one-page English trade ads and a few English brochures). Studios would only rarely run these elaborate 6-page ads in issues of this magazine (usually they were either 1-page or 2-page), and they often had images not found on any of the regular movie posters (either English or U.S.). This 6-page trade ad was removed from a 1948 issue of this magazine, and it will look incredible displayed on the new owner's wall, but of course, they will have to decide which side to display. Note that this is a country of origin item for this English movie. Condition: very good. The ad was removed from a magazine (see above). It was the centerfold of the magazine so the pages are on a single sheet, and there are staple holes at the spine (see our image). Learn More about condition grades
