Date Sold 9/22/2016 Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 3 Undated (probably 1980s) Re-Release Theatrical French 8 1/4" x 10 1/2" [21 x 27 cm] Movie Stills (Learn More) The Bride of Frankenstein, the classic 1935 James Whale Universal monster horror thriller sequel ("The Monster Demands a Mate!"; "The monster thriller"; "Who will be The Bride of Frankenstein. Who will dare?"; the second of the Universal Frankenstein movies, and the only example I am aware of where a sequel is clearly superior to the original movie!; this is James Whale's masterpiece, and almost everyone agrees it is among the finest movies ever made, regardless of genre) starring Boris Karloff (as the Frankenstein monster), Colin Clive (as Dr. Henry Frankenstein), Valerie Hobson (as the bride of Dr. Frankenstein), Elsa Lanchester (in the title role as the bride of the Frankenstein monster, and also as Mary Shelley!), Una O'Connor, Ernest Thesiger (as Dr. Pretorius), E.E. Clive, O.P. Heggie, John Carradine, Dwight Frye (as Karl), Gavin Gordon, and Neil Fitzgerald NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that these French stills, which measure 8 1/4" x 10 1/2" [21 x 27 cm], came from a French collector ("Archives Gilles Gressard"), and they have a stamp from that company on the back of each. Our best guess is that the stills were likely created in the 1980s. They have pretty nice printing quality, but we feel there is no chance they are from the original release or even from a 1940s or 1950s re-release. Please bear this in mind before bidding on these French stills. Also note that it is possible these stills were created in the U.S., because the French stamps on the back might have been added at a later time. Condition: very good.
