What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: poor to fair. The poster had paper loss at the crossfold that fell between the men's arms and staining and paper loss in the woman's forehead. There were some small tears and small areas of paper loss scattered on the folds. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. Unfortunately, a some point after it was mounted, the left 3" of the poster came into contact with water, and it is now heavily water stained in that area, both in the poster itself and in the linen. There was also some water that came into contact with part of the rest of the poster, and that has caused it to tear and "lift" from the linen in the area above the distributor credit. A talented restorer could remove this from the linen and reverse the damage, but bear this in mind before bidding on this extremely scarce poster.
