Date Sold 6/12/2011Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Czechoslovakian Movie Poster (measures 23" x 32 1/4") (Learn More) Janos vitez (released in the U.S. as "Johnny Corncob"), the 1973 Marcell Jankovics Hungarian animated fantasy adventure cartoon (based on the poem by Sandor Petofi, about a shepherd who returns from war to find his sweetheart dead, and he immediately leaves again to face death in dangerous circumstances, wanting to die so that he can be reunited with his love) featuring the voices of Gyorgy Cserhalmi, Aniko Nagy, Erzsi Partos, Antal Farkas, and Gabor Madi Szabo. Note that poet Sandor Petofi is Hungary's best known poet, and his life had some unfortunate parallels to this movie, for he died in battle at a young age. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was never folded. It had some creases and tiny tears in the borders and a few dot stains in the solid colored areas. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer linenbacked the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above, but they are really not very distracting (and any restorer could easily touch them up without re-backing the poster).
