Swing Time, the 1936 George Stevens romantic love triangle musical dancing comedy ("With six new haunting melodies by Jerome Kern composer of 'Roberta'"; "Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers in the captivating climax of their gay young lives!..."; about a man and woman who are supposed to marry others, but they end up falling in love with each other) starring Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Victor Moore, Helen Broderick, Eric Blore, Betty Furness, Georges Metaxa, and Dennis O'Keefe. Note that this was one of the nine wonderful movies that Astaire and Rogers made between 1933 and 1939 (they made one final movie, "The Barkleys of Broadway", thirteen years later in 1949).

Important Added Info: Note that this pressbook, which we have only once auctioned before, is one of the coolest and most elaborate pressbooks ever! RKO at this time did some really amazing pressbooks (including for the Disney features), and this is just as elaborate as any of those. It has a cover that is a giant folder with a spin wheel contained within it that allowed you to turn the wheel and see many different images of Astaire & Rogers dancing. It has three sections inside, plus two heralds (one a full-color one and one a newspaper style), plus six ad supplements covering different aspects of promoting the movie! See our many images to get a sense of just how cool this pressbook is!

Note that when studios would prepare pressbooks they would often include a sample of the herald. Most often, the herald is no longer still with the pressbook. Sometimes, the herald by itself will sell for almost as much as the rest of the entire pressbook! This pressbook contains the original herald which is pictured next to the pressbook below. Also note that pressbooks were prepared prior to a movie being released. Often, changes would be made in a movie advertising campaign (billing of actors, different images, etc.), and the theaters would print up special supplements that they would send out with the pressbooks that had already been printed. These supplements are very rare, far more rare than the pressbooks themselves! Some pressbooks would have no supplements, some would have one, and some would have several. Almost every Academy Award winning movie would have a special "Academy Award winner" supplement. Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook, and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners received pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut!

Note: We have 22 images of this pressbook, but due to a space limitation, only TEN of the 22 images are displayed above. However, there is a "supersize" link to the right of those images that lets you see the other 12.

Condition: good to very good, NO CUTS. There are tears and paper loss at the spine edge of the covers and other wear in parts of this very elaborate pressbook (see our many images). Someone put clear tape down the spine of the first of the three interior sections and tucked the other two inside of it.
