A Linenbacked Swiss Advertising Poster (measures 35 1/4" x 50 1/4" [90 x 128 cm]) (Learn More) Cyma SA is a Swiss manufacturer of luxury wristwatches, founded by brothers Joseph and Theodore Schwob in 1862. By 1908, Cyma were advertising the resilience of their automatic timepieces when exposed to electricity, magnetism and varying temperatures. in the 1950s, Cyma watches retailed between approximately $400 and $25,000 (adjusted for inflation). Artist: Fritz Buhler Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It had two tape stains in the top left background area (no doubt where a snipe was once attached), and it had a 1 1/2" vertical crease in the upper right of the black watch. Otherwise, the poster was in pretty nice condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Learn More about condition grades
