Note that this movie bears many similarities to "Twelve O'Clock High", where pilots faced the same difficulties in World War II. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that included with this half-sheet is a personally signed (autographed) canceled check from Errol Flynn from 1944 (written out to the Special Asphalt Products Company for $17.00). Also note that the item comes with a "certificate of authenticity" from Collectors View Autographs showing that the check was purchased for $395 (see our images of the poster, the signed check, and the certificate). Of course, the check could be matted and framed with the poster, or one could instead frame the check with a different image of Flynn. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had darkened somewhat, typical of Warner Bros. linen posters of this period. It had small separation at the crossfold, with some tiny bits of surface paper loss on the folds. It had been roughly handled when it was rolled, resulting in some partial extra vertical folds scattered throughout. It had some light stains in the background area above the "R" of "PATROL". It had pinholes in the corners. Its left border had been trimmed off and was replaced with a border from a similar poster. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects. Note that either the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster, or possibly the owner of the poster chose to carefully trim off the excess, so that the poster would fit in a frame. The signed check is in nice condition (naturally, it has a cancellation from the bank where it was cashed). Learn More about condition grades
