An Original Vintage Swiss Art Portfolio (measures 11 1/2" x 15 1/2"; 14 pages; contains 6 prints that measure 11" x 15" each) (Learn More)

Oskar Kokoschka was an Austrian artist, poet and playwright from the 1900s to the 1970s. He is best known for his intense expressionistic portraits and landscapes. Some of his works include: The Bride of the Wind, Murderer, the Hope of Women, and Orpheus und Eurydike. He passed away in 1980 at the age of 93.
Important Added Info: Note that this is a portfolio of work by this artist that was created in 1948. It contains six 11" x 15" watercolor prints of flowers on a deluxe paper stock, and each has the artist's name, the date, and printer information on the back. Three of the prints are from 1939 and three are from 1945. There is also an 11" x 15" booklet which has 14 pages, and which gives a long biography of the artist in German, along with descriptions of each of the prints on the final three pages. The prints and the booklet are contained in an 11 1/2" x 15 1/2" portfolio with hard covers, and tipped in to the cover is a 4 1/4" x 5 3/4" color print by the artist, which is dated 1944 (see our images).

UPDATED 09/17/2015: Note that we initially mentioned that the prints in this set were hand-signed by the artist. However, the signatures are actually printed and the prints are NOT hand-signed. We have updated the auction accordingly.

Condition: very good. The prints have some slight darkening around the edges but are otherwise in nice condition. The booklet has a few stains on the cover. The portfolio has a few tears on the inside and a tear at the bottom of the cover (see our images).
