An Unfolded Australian Travel Poster (measures 39 3/4" x 50 3/4" [101 x 129 cm]) (Learn More)

Australia, the circa 1930s Australian travel poster ("The landing of Captain Cook at Botany Bay 1770") promoting travel to Australia and featuring art of Captain Cook landing at Botany Bay by Percival Albert (Percy) Trompf. Percy Trompf was one of Australia's top poster artists at this time. He had begun his career designing chocolate boxes and candy wrappers in Melbourne, and then he opened his own studio and designed hundreds of travel posters in the 1920s and 1930s. In 1942, at the age of 40, he joined the Australian Air Force as a pilot, and served for six years! He resumed drawing posters and also illustrated books. He passed away in 1964. Important Added Info: Note that this travel poster was printed in 2 sections designed to overlap, and combined, the poster measures 39 3/4" x 50 3/4", and will look spectacular on the new owner's wall!

Condition: good to very good. The poster has faint brown staining (foxing) around portions of the edges, but is otherwise in really nice condition, especially considering its age.
