An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Three-Sheet Movie Poster (3sh; measures 41" x 81" [104 x 206 cm]) (Learn More)

When the Daltons Rode, the 1940 George Marshall outlaw cowboy western ("Based on 'When The Daltons Rode' by Emmett Dalton and Jack Jungmeyer, Sr.") starring Randolph Scott, Kay Francis, Brian Donlevy (in the title role as Grat Dalton), George Bancroft, Broderick Crawford (in the title role as Bob Dalton), Andy Devine, Stuart Erwin (in the title role as Ben Dalton), and Frank Albertson (in the title role as Emmett Dalton). Note that Kay Francis had been the number one female star of the first half of the 1930s, but her career had declined rapidly in the latter half of the decade, and by 1940, she was reduced to taking much lesser part roles, including this one!
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that first release 1940 posters from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned window card and a few lobby cards from this movie until we received this three-sheet!

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had paper loss at the crossfolds and some tears and small paper loss on parts of many folds in the bottom one-third of the poster, with scuffs in the solid colored areas. It had paper loss at the crossfolds in the middle one-third of the poster, but not much fold wear. It had only tiny paper loss and minor fold wear in the top one-third of the poster. It had pinholes, tears, stains, and paper loss around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. Someone backed the poster with no excess on the left and right, and only did some restoration to the above defects, mostly leaving the borders "as is". They also did not glue the section below the top one-third properly, and it is "lifting" from the linen across the top of the title. In spite of all this, the poster could still be displayed as it is, or certainly, one could choose to re-back it, but bear all of the above in mind and look at our super-sized image before bidding on this poster.
