An Original Vintage Folded Dutch World War II Poster (measures 33 1/4" x 47" [84 x 119 cm]) (Learn More)

Een Schande Die 20 Jaren Kon Voortduren (literally translates to "A Disgrace That Could Last for 20 Years"), the 1940 Dutch World War II (WWII) poster (with taglines that translate to "Bitter distress forces many more Dutch people to live like this. This must be over!") created by the Nazi German-occupying forces to bring attention to the dire conditions that many Dutch people were forced to deal with, and featuring images of poverty-stricken families. Note that despite being neutral, the Netherlands was invaded by Nazi Germany in 1940, and the was placed under German occupation, which endured in some areas until the German surrender in May of 1945. From 1940 to 1941, there was an economic boom caused by orders from Germany, combined with the "velvet glove" approach of the occupation. This poster seems to be promoting how much better the country will be under German control. However, eventually Germany demanded higher contributions from occupied territories, resulting in a decline of living standards. In 1944 and 1945, conditions deteriorated further. Most of the south of the country was liberated in the second half of 1944, but the rest of the country was still under occupation, and suffered from a famine known as the "Hunger Winter".
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube.

Condition: good to very good. There are some tears of varying lengths along portions of the lower edge of the poster that have been repaired with tape from the back. There is some minor crossfold separation in a few crossfolds, but overall it is in pretty nice condition.
