Artist: M.M. Important Added Info: Note that this is a rare horizontal Italian one-panel poster. It measures the same as the vertical oriented images, but has a horizontal orientation, much like a British quad. In the first few years after World War II, Italian posters were not always standard, and some had unusual sizes, or as in the case of this poster, a different orientation. By the early 1950s, the standard Italian sizes had evolved, and you rarely ever saw a non-standard size poster. Also note that Italian posters from the first few years after World War II are among the most rare posters there are. These are likely so rare because there were still major paper shortages in Italy right after World War II, and few posters were printed, and most were recycled. This is an extremely rare first release Italian poster from 1946. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had tears and areas of paper loss on parts of several folds and tears, paper loss, and stains around the edges, more so in the bottom blank border. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did little restoration to the defects described above.
