An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More)

The Cavell Case: The Woman the Germans Shot, the 1918 John G. Adolfi silent World War I (WWI) military medical nurse melodrama (about the true story of Edith Cavell, who was a British nurse who served with the underground in Belgium during the First World War, and helped hundreds of British soldiers escape before she was caught and executed by the Germans) starring Julia Arthur (as Nurse Edith Cavell), Creighton Hale, Thomas Brooks, George LeGuere, and William H. Tooker. Note that the IMDb says this movie was released as "The Woman the Germans Shot", and that The Cavell Case was solely "the copyrighted title", but the only items we have seen from this movie have the title as "The Cavell Case", with "The Woman the Germans Shot" underneath it, so we wonder if the IMDb is simply wrong. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Note that this was a VERY inspiring and popular movie idea, because it was first made into a movie called "Nurse and Martyr" in 1915 shortly after it happened. Then came this movie, and then there was another movie called "Dawn", followed by a 1939 version called "Nurse Edith Cavell" starring Anna Neagle.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this poster has never been folded! Some pre-1970 half-sheet posters were folded twice horizontally at the poster exchange, while some were not. It can be difficult to find an unfolded example of many pre-1970 half-sheet posters (note that most post-1970 half-sheets were NOT folded, so they are pretty much only found unfolded, and therefore this does not apply to those half-sheets).

Condition: good. The poster was never folded. It has many stains around the edges, with some tears and paper loss.
