An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Studio Tribute Book (measures 8 1/2" x 11 1/4"; 180 pages) (Learn More)

The Paramount Pep Club 1927 Annual ("A Clan of Good Fellows"), the 1927 Paramount studio tribute book, sent to members of the Paramount Pep Club (which was basically a club created by Adolph Zukor, the head of Paramount Pictures, for companies that wanted to sell their products to the many Paramount theaters all over the world); apparently, Zukor had figured out yet another way to make money out of his studio! This book contains 180 pages, which have just a few articles about Paramount, but is packed with ads from the many companies that belonged to the Paramount Pep Club. What makes this book os special interest to all movie paper collectors, are the fantastic pages that have full-color "tipped in" images of Paramount's greatest stars ("tipped in" means that the photos were carefully glued in to each individual single page of every book printed). Note that the books from 1925 and 1926 (the two previous years) had included a number of full-page images of Paramount top stars, but they were single color, and apparently those books got great receptions (or maybe Zukor realized this was a great advertising opportunity, or maybe it reflected Paramount's rising good fortunes in Hollywood), because for this year, they went to wonderful full-color images of the stars, and just like in 1926, all of the images are "tipped in" (see above). Some of the stars pictured include Harold Lloyd, Clara Bow, Bebe Daniels, Richard Dix, Emil Jannings, Adolphe Menjou, Fred Thomson, George Bancroft, Chester Conklin, and Gary Cooper ("whose meteoric rise to stardom has been climaxed by his assignment to the stellar role in Beau Sabreur, which will elicit paeans of praise when released")! There is also a full-page image of Adolph Zukor standing in front of the incredible "Paramount Building", a massive skyscraper that Paramount had built in New York City! In the back of the book, there are full-color images of the best Paramount theaters from all over the world (New York, London, Omaha, Boston, Jacksonville, Chicago, St. Louis, Spain, Japan, France, Brazil), and we have pictured one of those (the incredible Ambassador Theatre in St. Louis). Note that the book has really cool embossed green covers with a gold circular emblem of the Paramount Pep Club, including the famous Paramount logo.

Important Added Info: Note that this is one of an excellent collection of seven extremely scarce studio campaign books (plus two similar items) we are selling this week on eBay (in seven separate auctions). Even though these are books that have sold for hundreds of dollars in the past, all begin with 99 cents with no reserve on any of them!

Condition: very good to fine. This is a hard-bound book and there is slight scuffing on the edges of the spine and around the edges of the front and back covers. The imprinted Paramount symbol and rectangle around it are an uneven color, and it appears that area has aged. The interior pages of the book are in excellent condition!
